Good design extends beyond the built form to the surrounding landscapes. Until the landscapes which complement and embellish the buildings which they border are finalised, a project is not truly complete. The role of a landscape architect is to create beauty and function through nature, but designing landscapes is not without risk. Landscape architects, as well as the clients and consultants who work with them, need to understand the risk profile of their profession. This webinar looks at how the challenges and opportunities for construction consultants play out specifically in this discipline.

informed Risk Managers – Natalie Sullivan and Wendy Poulton will cover some fundamental risk management principles, then focus on more detailed illustrations through case studies of reported claims, to help you better understand the risks and avoid common pitfalls in landscape architecture.

Learning Objectives

Following completion of this webinar, you will have an improved understanding of the risks associated with the design of landscapes, amongst other things through an examination of some of the case law in this area. Further, you will have knowledge of some strategies which, if implemented in your practice, may assist you to manage these risks and reduce your exposure to claims arising from alleged failures in your design and/or professional practices.
